Privacy Policy
IVY is a writing tool for newsletter creators. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We keep this readable because most of it is straightforward.
Who we are
IVY Writer (“IVY”, “we”, “us”) operates ivy-writer.com. You can reach us at support@ivy-writer.com.
What we collect
Account data
Your email address — collected when you sign in. We use magic links only; we never store your password.
Content data
Your newsletter drafts, section titles, branches, and seeds — stored so the product works. This is your content and it stays yours.
Payment data
If you subscribe to Vine, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or payment details on our servers. We store a Stripe customer ID and your plan status.
Usage data
We collect basic analytics via Vercel Analytics — page views and performance metrics. This is aggregate and does not use tracking cookies or personally identify you.
AI usage
When you use AI features (✦), your section content is sent to Anthropic’s API to generate a response. We do not store AI prompts or responses beyond what is needed to display the result. Anthropic’s privacy policy governs their data handling.
Why we collect it
- Account data — to identify you and keep your work safe
- Content data — to provide the service you signed up for
- Payment data — to process your subscription
- Analytics — to understand how people use IVY and improve it
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party services to run IVY:
- Supabase — database and authentication, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt)
- Stripe — payment processing
- Anthropic — AI content generation (Vine plan only)
- Vercel — hosting and analytics
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your content and account data immediately. Payment records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by applicable law.
Your rights
Regardless of where you are, you can:
- Access your data — email us and we’ll send you everything we have
- Delete your account — go to Settings → Account → Delete account
- Export your content — use the Export button inside any issue
- Contact us with any concern — support@ivy-writer.com
If you are in the EU or UK
You have additional rights under GDPR / UK GDPR, including the right to rectification, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK, or your local supervisory authority in the EU).
If you are in California
Under the CCPA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at support@ivy-writer.com.
Cookies
IVY uses two types of cookies:
- Authentication cookies — set by Supabase to keep you logged in. Strictly necessary for the service to work.
- Temporary redirect cookies — used during sign-in to remember where to send you after. Deleted immediately after use.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.
International transfers
IVY is operated globally. Your data may be processed in the United States, the European Union, or other countries where our service providers operate. When we transfer data from the EU/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll update the date at the top and notify active users by email.
